We urge the Government to require Ofwat to cap water bills in unmetered households when water companies impose usage restrictions during water shortages.
We believe it is unjust for water companies to pay huge dividends and bonuses to shareholders after increasing prices while imposing usage restrictions, which may be because the infrastructure does not support usage requirements if there is a lack of rain. We believe this money should be reinvested to enable the network to meet demands. We are concerned climate change creates these conditions annually and we believe things must change but not at the expense of households.
