We are calling on the Government to: - Introduce a national licensing scheme for wildlife rehabilitators - Require basic training and access to veterinary support - Implement welfare and hygiene standards - Create a public register of approved rehabilitators
We urge the Government to introduce a mandatory national licensing and inspection system for wildlife rehabilitators. This could help ensure consistent standards of welfare, training, hygiene, and accountability in the care of injured or orphaned wild animals. We think the current lack of licensing and regulation can lead to inconsistent animal care and pose a risk to both wildlife and the public.
