Introduce safeguarding legislation and regulation for extracurricular activities. Ensure all staff and volunteers are trained, vetted, and members of an accredited awarding, governing or regulated body to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Children and vulnerable adults can face safeguarding risks in extracurricular activities due to a lack of specific legislation. These environments often operate without specific regulation or oversight. Requiring coaches, teachers, clubs and schools to be members of an accredited body would help establish minimum safeguarding standards.
