Milestones

Make it a legal requirement for all dairy products (including milk, cheese, yoghurt and cream) to clearly state if they are made from pasteurised milk. Require producers and supermarkets to confirm this in writing on request.

Pregnant people and others vulnerable to listeria can rely on clear labelling to avoid serious health risks. Most UK dairy is pasteurised, but labels don’t always say so, which may cause confusion and fear. We deserve transparency, especially when verbal confirmation from staff can be unreliable. In contrast, EU products often include clear and consistent pasteurisation labelling, which allows consumers to make safe, informed choices.
