Milestones—
We urge the Government to repeal Public Order Act 2023 and the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022. We believe these acts have prevented people from taking part in legitimate protest and may lead to the criminalisation of people for going to meetings to plan protests.
The Acts created new offences: locking-on; causing serious disruption by tunnelling; obstructing major transport works; and interfering with key national infrastructure. These Acts were passed when the previous Conservative Government was in power, and we believe that now Labour is in Government, it must restore the right to protest.
