Require car manufacturers to provide courtesy cars or compensation when issuing ‘do not drive’ recalls. We think support must include alternative transport, cover for ongoing costs, and compensation for stress and inconvenience. Set a legal repair time limit.
Drivers affected by urgent safety recalls may be left without transport for weeks or months, while still paying insurance, tax, and finance. Some may be in debt or at risk of job loss. Towing and courtesy cars may not be offered, and there’s no guaranteed fix date. We think this is causing serious stress, hardship, and financial pressure.
