Milestones

We call on the Government to create city authorities to oversee roadworks, enforce planning, and hold utility firms, contractors, and councils accountable for disruption.

Poorly managed works can cause congestion, waste fuel, and raise emissions. Authorities should set clear timelines, minimise delays, and issue fines or suspend negligent contractors. Roads are shared infrastructure, and we think misuse should carry real consequences to protect the public and keep cities moving.
