Milestones

Unseal the official documents relating to Nottingham's Race Riots, so that academics in Nottingham can work with the community to restore the true narrative. Notting Hill's 1958 Race Riot files were released early, exposing extensive police failures and institutional racism.

When writing my dissertation on how a reprisal against anti-Black racial violence in Nottingham was a catalyst for Nottingham and Notting Hill's 1958 Race Riots, I was advised that key court documents relating to the 1958 racial violence are sealed for 100 years; which is far beyond the standard 20 year restriction applied by the National Archives & noticeably longer than the 75-year sealing of official records from the Notting Hill Race Riots.
