When the CMS calculate the paying parent's monthly payment to the resident parent. If the paying parent pays a mortgage for where the applicant lives, this figure should be taken off the monthly CMS payment.
There are many paying parents who cannot afford to pay a mortgage and also their own rent. Some live in cars or with parents simply to survive, and can get into more debt to cover the bills as they may be paying for the ex's home and CMS payments. We think many people could be living in poverty as a result. We think it's morally unfair. The paying parent's relationship with the child can be harmed as they might not have a family home or a place they can call their own for the child to stay over too.
