Milestones

We want the Government to introduce legislation giving the UK national anthem formal legal status, rather than relying on tradition alone. As part of this we want Parliament to formally review and, if appropriate, change the anthem.

Currently, ‘God Save the King’ is used by convention. We believe it is outdated and unfit for a modern United Kingdom. It focuses solely on the monarch, rather than the people or the nation. We urge the Government to launch a public consultation to select a new anthem that promotes unity, pride, and shared identity. We think there are alternatives that offer inclusive representations of the nation.
