We believe a professional drivers’ exemption from Schengen restrictions from the 90/180 day rule to those who are transporting goods or people between the UK and EU on a return journey is needed, and would be grateful for support in raising this issue in Parliament and with EU members.
We would like an exemption certificate from the 90 day rule or work permit for hauliers and coach drivers alike to have free movement on haulage if it be export or import and passenger service vehicles i.e. coaches for holiday trips. This current arrangement can mean haulage companies lose revenue, and as there’s already a shortage on HGV drivers in the UK it can damage an already frail industry.
