Milestones—
Parliament, with the backing of the Government, should legislate to make Holocaust denial (in speech, print etc.) and the performance of Nazi salutes a specific criminal offence in line with many countries in continental Europe and beyond.
Holocaust denial is worthy of becoming a criminal offence as it is consistently used to debase historical fact in the pursuit of harassing, intimidating or otherwise harming groups persecuted in the Holocaust. Such activity only serves to empower extremist ideologies, and can breach numerous statutes protecting groups and their dignity in existing law. Likewise, Nazi salutes are not only a gross affront to our country’s history, but also intimidatory and hostile to these very same groups.
