We are concerned not all women are properly informed of the risk of placenta accreta after caesarean section. 1 in 272 pregnancies result in Placenta Accreta, leading to hysterectomy, reconstructive surgery, haemorrhage, premature births, PTSD and even death of mother and/or baby.
We call on the government to conduct a review of the information provided to women, including the consent forms. We believe it is imperative that consent forms include information about the risk of Placenta Accreta in order that women are able to make informed decisions about future pregnancies.
