Milestones

We are calling on the Government to introduce national planning safeguards that prevent waste and clinical waste incinerators being built within a specific distance from schools, nurseries, and playgrounds.

We believe children are the most vulnerable members of our society, and that their lungs, hearts, and immune systems are still developing, which makes them particularly sensitive to environmental pollution. There are currently no specific national planning safeguards that prevent hazardous or clinical waste incinerators from being sited next to schools, nurseries, or playgrounds. This is a gap in policy that urgently needs to be addressed.
