Milestones—
We want the government to introduce mandatory registration and licensing alongside other regulations to align the system with what is in place for mopeds.
We believe a registration system helps to decrease the risk of individuals purchasing second-hand e-bikes that may be defective or unlawfully modified. Requiring e-bike riders to have a license could aid in preventing underage riders through the enforcement of stricter identification protocols. Licensing also ensures that riders possess the necessary experience and are familiar with road regulations.
