Make compassionate leave for pet loss a legal right in the UK by requiring employers to provide a minimum of 2-3 days paid leave when a pet passes away.
Pets are family, not “just animals.” Losing them can be as devastating as losing a loved one, yet workers get no legal right to grieve. I lost my pet, my companion through hard times, and was forced onto sick leave instead of being given compassionate time. No one should have to worry about work when grieving. We need a legal right to 2-3 days paid leave for pet loss.
