We call on the Government to change the guidelines regarding mastectomies to make it mandatory for all patients who are recommended a single mastectomy to be offered a double mastectomy. I had a single mastectomy and the other side won't be removed. Why can't I sleep or feel comfortable.
I needed a single mastectomy and for my own reasons I chose not to have reconstruction, a choice I don't regret but believe the choice to have a double mastectomy should be offered or accepted at anytime, I can request have any implant or reconstruction using my own body whenever with no questions so why does it need to be questioned and assessed to have the other side removed when it would make me more comfortable and feel equal.
