Amend legislation so the Care Quality Commission can regulate employment and recruitment agencies that supply health and care staff.
Employment and recruitment agencies that supply care staff are not regulated by the CQC. We think this can create a gap in accountability and safety. Untrained agency staff can cause distress and risk, and we do not think there is currently a clear route to raise concerns. The law should change so the CQC can regulate these agencies, ensuring proper standards for recruitment, training and safeguarding.
