Classify affordable housing as critical national infrastructure to address the lack of supply of safe, accessible and affordable housing. This single action could allow for long-term investment and planning to provide a fundamental human need: shelter.
We believe homelessness is spiralling out of control and local authorities are struggling. Shelter reported that 300,000+ people are homeless in England and 130,000+ people in temporary accommodation. We believe we need long term planning & long-term investment to prioritise infrastructure spending and giving a boost to jobs. If the Government designated data centres as critical national infrastructure, we believe affordable housing should be as well.
