We call on the Government to scrap the cap on medical training places. Abolish these limits and increase funding for more placements and trainers, and to widen access, reduce reliance on overseas recruitment, and ensure any needs are met.
We believe Britain should train the clinicians it needs. Capped places could shut out talented young people, keep services short-staffed and push the NHS to recruit overseas which may impact poorer countries’ workforces. We back a sovereign, ethical workforce: scrap the cap, fund placements and trainers, widen access and retention, and phase down routine overseas recruitment. We want to be fair to British applicants, fair to patients, fair to the world.
