At present it is not against the law for anyone to trim equine feet (horse, donkey, mule). We run a donkey rescue, some donkeys arrive crippled and deformed due to DIY trimmers. Some cases take over a year to put right, by a qualified farrier
The Government needs to prohibit unqualified trimming of equines feet. The law only states it is illegal for anyone who isn't qualified to put a shoe on an equine, they only need to put one nail in and the have broken the law. Yet equines are being crippled everyday causing unnecessary suffering because anyone can trim equines
