Milestones

The government should ensure all major mainline railway stations, where passengers can board a train that will travel non-stop for more than 15 minutes, are fitted with airport-style security, such as baggage scanners, metal detectors and ID checks.

The introduction of new security measures at railway stations will allow for greater protections to both passengers and railway staff. This will act as a deterrent for violent crime and also assist railway operators with providing a better experience for passengers. This will also rebuild confidence in rail travel.
