Replace juries in domestic abuse and homicide trials with a trauma-informed panel of trained professionals. We believe this will ensure verdicts are based on evidence, context, and behaviour patterns beyond reasonable doubt.
We think it defeats the purpose of lengthy and costly investigations to prove a case beyond reasonable doubt, only to hand final verdicts to jurors who can be swayed by first impressions and personal bias. Domestic abuse and homicide cases can be complex by nature, involve coercive control and trauma responses that are easily misread, and we believe a trauma-informed panel would ensure fairer, safer justice for all.
