Government should regulate food businesses to mandate that nut containing products must be kept separate from other products during storage, preparation and sale. This also includes whilst on display in food selling environments
We call on the government to mandate that food businesses store and prepare foods containing nuts entirely separately including display for selling. Trace amounts from cross contamination can trigger life threatening anaphylaxis for those with severe nut allergies. We believe current voluntary warnings are insufficient. Mandatory segregation could significantly reduce this risk, allowing those with allergies to dine out safely and without fear.
