Make it mandatory for the seller to undertake a survey for Japanese knotweed during the sale of their property.

The UK is a hotspot for Japanese Knotweed. After recently buying my first home, I was devastated to discover it on the property. It’s already cost me over £4,000 to manage, and I’m likely to face a loss in value when I sell. Given how widespread this issue is, I believe surveys that identify Japanese Knotweed should be made mandatory during the sale of a property. I think this would help protect all buyers (especially young, first-time buyers) from unexpected costs and long-term stress.
