The current advice according to the food standards agency is that children between 7 and 10 should not have more than one slushie drink (350ml) per day. This should not be advice; it should be illegal for children under 16 to consume such drinks.
“Slushies” can contain the additive glycerol / glycerine / E 422. If a child consumes several in a short space of time, glycerol can cause shock, very low blood sugar levels, headaches, nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness.
