Milestones

Introduce universal, publicly-funded day care for children, including meals. This could support early development, ensure nutrition standards for children, reduce pressure on families, improve workforce participation for parents and strengthen the economy and productivity.

It could increase tax receipts by enabling both parents to work and by creating more childcare jobs, raise productivity through greater labour participation. One day care teacher could care for multiple children (min. 3), we think making it more efficient than the capped 2 child benefit. It could guarantee nutritious meals and give every child regardless of family income a strong start, delivering long term socio-economic benefits.
