Milestones

I want the Government to review and strengthen DBS checks. Implement national pattern-recognition, improve cross-agency information sharing, create lifetime safeguarding records and automatic alerts to avoid missing repeated allegations or risks when people work with children or vulnerable adults.

I want the Government to act because I believe the current DBS system can miss repeated allegations, investigations, and safeguarding concerns, especially across different regions. Conviction rates for crimes like rape are extremely low, and many victims never report, so I think recognising patterns is essential. I am concerned that without better information sharing and lifetime safeguarding records, people with known risks may still work with children and vulnerable adults.
