The Government’s proposed new residence pathway "Earned Settlement" shouldn’t include those who are on an existing pathway since 2012 as we believe it violates trust to change the conditions retrospectively.
The UK government’s retroactive application of new settlement rules is a profound breach of trust. We believe that immigrants who invested a decade under established rules, building lives and contributing, now face a devastating financial and moral setback, and that this move is not only legally questionable but strategically damaging to the UK’s global reputation. We demand an immediate exemption for all existing 5 and 10-year route holders to honour the original compact. This is a central injustice.
