Milestones

To remove the planned mileage tax on electric and plugin-hybrid cars, and to equalise VAT on public charging to 5% to support adoption.

We petition against the proposed 3p/mile EV tax starting 2028, which will be 1.5p/mile for plug-in hybrid vehicles. We think it's short-sighted and contradicts UK investment in EV manufacturing and Net Zero goals by suppressing consumer demand. EV owners already pay VAT on electricity (20% at public chargers, 5% at home). This tax is double taxation and unfairly penalizes drivers. Demand: withdraw the tax and reduce VAT on public charging to 5%.
