British citizens abroad will no longer be able to pay class 2 national insurance contributions to obtain a UK State pension. This has been in place until now, and UK citizens may have planned their future financial security around this scheme.
Some British citizens abroad are in low paid jobs with local salaries, and may not have been in their country of residence long enough to accrue a reasonable pension there. We also believe that we carry out cultural diplomacy and promote Britain.
