We want the government to increase the Carer’s Allowance to at least £840 per week. We believe carers should be valued within society & their worth should be reflected in the help and benefits they receive. Carers can receive £83.30 a week however they must provide care for at least 35 hours a week
The weekly rate for round the clock professional care can be thousands of pounds. We feel there is a massive difference between the carer’s allowance and the amounts charged by private companies. I don't think carers are paid enough to live on. Carers can carry out the same, if not more work, than paid carers, looking after individuals. I feel that the amount they are paid demonstrates the disdain and lack of appreciation that they receive.
