Change the law to make it a specific criminal offence to protest outside someone’s home, so the police can act to disperse vigilante groups who gather outside someone’s home to harass individuals and families and allow them to arrest those who refuse to disperse.
Currently, we feel the police have no power to arrest protestors who gather outside someone’s home. Many of these groups are well-organised and may act based on misinformation and hearsay. We are concerned that vulnerable people may be driven out of their homes, living in fear, and that it may place additional burdens on already strained public services.
