Make abuse of school staff by parents or adults a specific criminal offence. Adults banned from school sites for abusive conduct should face proportionate consequences, including review of government support.
School staff deserve a safe workplace free from abuse. Aggression from parents or adults undermines wellbeing, disrupts learning, and sets a damaging example for children. Current measures do not deter such behaviour. Stronger legal powers and proportionate consequences will protect staff, uphold respect for education, and ensure schools remain secure environments where teachers can focus on supporting pupils.
