I am calling on the Government to make it a legal requirement for dog owners to hold at least third-party liability insurance to prevent victims of dog attacks from having to suffer financially as well as emotionally.
Vet bills after dog attacks can be very high and if victims are unable to cover the full costs of vet bills, owners having third party insurance could cover the remaining costs. Owners who refuse to pay or do not have insurance may force victims to go to small claims court, which may incur further costs and stress.
