Too many people are dying unnecessarily in house fires or other properties because there is no smoke detector or no working smoke detector. It makes sense for it to be unlawful not to have one.
We believe this is a long overdue, simple law to implement. Many fire stations will fit smoke detectors at no cost to the resident. We think this makes complete sense and could save lives. If this law, when implemented, is flouted, the owner of the property could have to face criminal charges of negligence at best, or murder at worst.
