We call on the Government to amend sentencing laws and reduce the minimum penalties for speeding in 20mph zones, so that a first offence between 20-25 mph only results in 1 point, a second leads to 2 points, and a third leads to 3 points.
We believe too many urban drivers are accumulating points and getting disqualified for marginal and minor offenses. A progressive system could send out the same message but avoid automatic disqualification being imposed too quickly.
