Milestones

Allow anyone living in a council house who has the right to buy their home to be able to buy their home at the full market value (without the right to buy discount) as part of a shared ownership scheme through the council. All income from the scheme should be ring fenced to build more council homes.

We believe this would allow even people on benefits such as UC to be able to purchase their first home in increments at the full house value, driving down the amount of money being claimed for housing benefit and leading to regenerating money to replace housing stock. The scheme should be available to tenants claiming housing benefit as we believe the more they purchase, the less will be claimed for these benefits, allowing tenants to still claim benefits for the part they had not purchased.
