Research shows forever chemicals (PFAS) and VOC (volatile organic compound) contamination in UK products from food packaging to fresh produce, and everyday items. We call on the Government to mandate testing for all products before they reach consumers, ensuring only safe goods are sold.

We believe consumers lack the expertise, equipment and resources to test for toxins like PFAS and VOCs, and that these checks require accredited labs and regulatory knowledge, making it impossible for individuals. We call on the Government to mandate that suppliers test any product they place on the UK market, as PFAS and VOCs can enter supply chains without the supplier’s knowledge. Suppliers should be required to verify whether a product contains PFAS or VOCs via UK accredited lab tests and maintain a national certificate register, ensuring safety before sale and giving consumers optional transparency.
