Introduce legislation banning AI-generated or AI-altered images in the advertising of beauty and cosmetic products, requiring realistic, truthful visuals that show real results on real people, to prevent misleading claims, protect consumers, and stop the spread of visual misinformation.
AI-generated images in beauty advertising can create unrealistic and unachievable results, misleading consumers and distorting expectations around skincare, cosmetics, and ageing. When synthetic images are presented as product outcomes, consumers cannot make informed choices. We believe regulation is needed to prevent visual misinformation, protect consumer trust, and ensure beauty marketing reflects real products on real people.
