We don’t feel like people are being told the truth about smart meters – although they have been found to be safe some people could be sensitive to the radio waves they emit. Customers should have the option to have these meters removed.
We therefore think that companies should allow customers to change from a smart meter to a traditional one, if they want to. People who move into a bought home or rented property that already has these smart meters installed are unlikely to be able to change it. Some people experience sensitivity towards the radio waves they emit and, in our view, must be protected under the Equality Act 2010. We think people should be given the choice.
