Milestones

The Government must mandate that LAs in England record & publish why children have moved into elective home-education (EHE), including whether they have an EHCP or S19 alternative provision was requested or provided & how long they were out of school before deregistration.

This anonymised data should be published annually. Children are being recorded as EHE even when they have been pushed out through lack of suitable provision. Families are often EHE due to unmet SEND needs, EBSA, failure to deliver EHCP provision, reduced timetables & placement breakdown. Government must require LAs to record and publish the reasons children move into EHE, so that children educated at home by choice are not merged with children forced out by systemic failure.
