Establish national standard bricklaying pay rates for use by housebuilders and mandate payment for all work done. We believe this will stop unpaid tasks, prevent undercutting, protect apprentices and help fix the construction skills shortage.

We also believe bricklayers face widespread underpayment due to rates being set too low, unpaid extras, and income lost to delays outside their control. This causes financial stress, mental health issues, and drives skilled workers out of the trade. Fair, transparent national rates would stabilise earnings, support apprentices, prevent undercutting, and help maintain a reliable workforce needed to deliver housing across the UK.
