Fund the provision of defensive equipment like pepper spray or stab resistant clothing for paramedics.
The 2024/25 figure for violence, aggression, and abuse against paramedics was 22,536 (14.8% increase from 2023/24). With these rates of violence, and the severity of violence increasing paramedics need better protection in order to be able to continue doing their job whilst keeping themselves, their patient(s), and members of the public safe. Additionally, these acts of aggression aren't just from combative patients, some are from members of the public forcing paramedics to work in fear.
