We ask the Government review the NHS approach to diagnosis, referral and treatment of lipoedema. This should include GP training, access to conservative treatments, and clear pathways to specialist care.
Lipoedema is a chronic, progressive condition that is often misdiagnosed as obesity, leading to delayed care and worsening symptoms. NHS access currently depends on location, forcing many patients to self-fund essential treatment. Early diagnosis and appropriate NHS care would improve quality of life and reduce long-term costs.

Government response
Numerous resources are available to support healthcare staff and integrated care boards in caring for patients with lipoedema, and we remain committed to reviewing new evidence as it emerges.
