We ask the UK Government to apply diplomatic pressure on Syria to halt military advances into Kurdish areas to protect Kurds and support a constitution which guarantees the Kurds’ right to self-rule.
We believe the Kurdish people have been vital to regional stability, yet recent military advances may threaten to undo years of local governance and safety. Without UK diplomatic intervention, we are concerned there is a high risk of mass displacement and ethnic persecution. We believe a stable Syria requires an inclusive political settlement that respects Kurds’ right to self-rule.
