Milestones

We urge the Government to fund local authorities to pilot dedicated, fire-resistant vape bins in public spaces and near schools to reduce litter, prevent lithium battery fires, protect wildlife, lower clean-up costs, and enable safe recycling of over 1 million disposable vapes discarded daily.

Disposable vapes create litter, pollution, and fire risks from batteries. We urge the Government to fund a pilot for secure vape-only bins in public areas. Councils showing the most dedication to proper disposal of vapes would receive additional funding for schemes like tree planting, reducing litter, enabling recycling, and promoting safer, cleaner streets.
