Align chaperone regulation with comparable roles by reviewing national safeguarding standards for vetting, training, and oversight, ensuring children in performance receive consistent protection regardless of where they work.
Licensed chaperones undertake a safeguarding-critical role with children in performance, yet oversight of licensing, renewal and accountability can vary widely by location. Centralised national oversight, with clear minimum standards and local delivery, would reduce inconsistency, strengthen safeguarding practice, and ensure children and professionals are protected regardless of where work takes place.
