Ultra bright LED headlights may be of benefit to drivers of these cars to the detriment of other road users, particularly at night time. Showing another driver a courtesy should not result in being stabbed in the eyes by LED headlights on full beam, thus instantly spoiling one’s night time vision.
In the interests of road safety and driver comfort we believe this LED headlight flashing menace should be actively discouraged. As a happily retired former ADI (approved driving instructor) I previously encouraged students to momentarily dip down (i.e. switch from dipped headlights to sidelights for a moment). This signal to other road users is perfectly clear and no discomfort is caused by this "come on" or "thank you" signal.
