Pause and review the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill to amend it and ensure home education is not over-regulated, that parental rights are respected, and that any changes are evidence-based and developed in consultation with home-educating families.

Home education is a lawful and long-established choice used successfully by many families, including those with SEND or mental health needs. We believe existing safeguarding powers already address genuine concerns. We are concerned the bill risks increased monitoring and regulation that may unfairly treat home-educating families as a risk, places unnecessary burdens on parents, and may pressure children into unsuitable school settings. We ask for proportionate, evidence-based policy developed with families.
